Filmmaker David Dhawan was impressed by Rajkummar Rao\u2019s performance in \u2018Bareilly Ki Barfi\u2019 so much that he expressed his desire to work with him and the actor says it would be \u201cfun\u201d whenever he collaborates with the director. Recently at a session, Varun Dhawan had revealed that his father, David, was blown away by Rajkummar\u2019s performance and was keen to work with the actor.<\/h2>\n

In an interview with PTI, Rajkummar says, \u201cI am a big fan of David Dhawan\u2019s films. I grew up watching his amazing comedies. It would be great to work with him. He had called me after \u2018Bareilly\u2026\u2019 and we spoke at length. He is a senior from FTII so we had that connection as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe told me \u2018hum saath may kaam karege tu toh phaad dega!\u2019 (If we work together you will rock it). He really liked my comic timing in the film. It would be great whenever we collaborate together, it\u2019ll be a different experience. I\u2019ll try and bring something different to the table, combined with his sensibility, it\u2019ll be just fun!\u201d<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old actor is equally in awe of Varun, who is maintaining a fine balance in his films by acting in both commercial entertainers and content driven cinema. \u201cVarun has been really supportive, he is very sweet and I have immense respect for him. The fine balance that he is maintaining \u2014 doing a massy entertainer like \u2018Judwaa\u2019 2 but also a dark film like \u2018Badlapur\u2019, and working with Shoojit Sircar. I think it\u2019s a great balance for an actor.\u201d<\/p>\n

So far for every \u2018Trapped\u2019 and a \u2018Newton\u2019\u2014 Rajkummar has had a \u2018Behen Hogi Teri\u2019 and \u2018Bareilly Ki Barfi\u2019 \u2014 but the actor insists he does not think about \u201ccommercial prospects\u201d while signing a film. \u201cFor me it\u2019s the story that matters. Nobody knows what\u2019s going to happen at the box office but you can give two months of your life to a script which you\u2019ve really liked.\u201d<\/p>\n

With such releases, he has been touted as the performer of the year, though Rajkummar says he does not let this go to his head. \u201cI don\u2019t think about it at all. I\u2019ve been working non- stop, I\u2019ve really enjoyed what I did. So all my focus and energy is on the work. It\u2019s a great feeling when people say \u2018it has been his year, he has done a wonderful job\u2019 but I feel fortunate that I got to be a part of all these scripts. Most of them worked, some didn\u2019t. But that\u2019s ok, the ratio isn\u2019t bad.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rajkummar believes filmmakers have now started trusting him as an artiste. \u201cI am sure there would\u2019ve been people earlier as well who wanted to make a film with me but for some reason thought investing this much money on me would probably be a risk.
