\nShiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today while condemning the brutal murder of Master Harkirat Singh, husband of SAD sarpanch Manpreet Kaur, at Sangrur this morning, said vendetta killings were continuing unabated in Punjab due to the failure of the Congress government to rein in goonda elements.<\/p>\n
In a statement here, the SAD president said the day light murder of Harkirat Singh occurred while he at Burj village in Sangrur today. He said this killing had occurred close to the heels of the murderous attack on SGPC member Dyal Singh Kolianwali\u2019s son Parminder and was symptomatic of the current law and order situation in the State.<\/p>\n
Stating that a wave of political assassinations were sweeping the State ever since the Congress government came into being, Mr Badal said this had deeply affected the morale of the people who expected the government to protect their life and liberty instead of acting as a government for Congressmen only.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile former minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said according to information relayed by former mla Iqbal Singh Jhundan, who had visited the Sangrur civil hospital, Harkirat\u2019s daughter also met with an accident while travelling to the hospital after learning of her father\u2019s murder. He said the party would provide all needed assistance to the family.
