\nPrime Minister Narendra Modi today targeted the Congress over \u201crampant corruption and loot of public money\u201d and for questioning the Army\u2019s surgical strikes and supporting Kashmir\u2019s \u201cindependence.\u201d<\/p>\n
Addressing his first poll rally at Rehan in Kangra, the PM said the \u201cdevbhoomi (Himachal Pradesh)\u201d was afflicted by five demons \u2014 the forest mafia, mining mafia, transfer mafia, tender mafia and drug mafia \u2014 and exhorted the people to end these demons by voting for the BJP on November 9.<\/p>\n
Ridiculing the Congress promise on \u201czero tolerance\u201d to corruption, he said: \u201cChief Minister Virbhadra Singh is on bail and the Congress talks of zero tolerance towards corruption. Will anybody believe that?\u201d<\/p>\n
Describing Himachal as the land of \u201cmartyrs and soldiers,\u201d he sought to strike a chord with ex-servicemen.<\/p>\n
\u201cStatements of Congress leaders (reference to P Chidambaram) supporting Kashmir\u2019s \u2018azadi\u2019 are an insult to the martyrs of the state, and their kin should punish the Congress for such utterances,\u201d Modi said. He questioned the purpose of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi\u2019s meeting with the Chinese envoy during the Doklam standoff. \u201cCan the country trust such leaders,\u201d he asked the gathering. At Dhaulan Kuan in Sirmaur district, Modi said the Congress had been reduced to a \u201claughing club\u201d that neither understood the people, nor their issues.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe BJP will form the next government under the leadership of PK Dhumal and even the Congress is aware of its imminent defeat,\u201d he claimed, alleging that public money, that should have been used for development works in the state, had been plundered by the Congress.<\/p>\n
Explaining the need for Aadhaar, he said a sum of Rs 57,000 crore that earlier went to \u201cbogus\u201d beneficiaries had now been saved.
