{"id":9706,"date":"2017-11-09T11:38:24","date_gmt":"2017-11-09T11:38:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/punjabnews24.com\/?p=9706"},"modified":"2017-11-09T11:38:24","modified_gmt":"2017-11-09T11:38:24","slug":"jalandhar-administration-launches-a-special-campaign-to-apprise-the-farmers-about-management-of-paddy-straw-organically","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/jalandhar-administration-launches-a-special-campaign-to-apprise-the-farmers-about-management-of-paddy-straw-organically\/","title":{"rendered":"JALANDHAR ADMINISTRATION LAUNCHES A SPECIAL CAMPAIGN TO APPRISE THE FARMERS ABOUT MANAGEMENT OF PADDY STRAW ORGANICALLY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Malli Nangal (Jalandhar)<br \/>\nThe Jalandhar district administration led by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma has renewed its efforts to apprise the farmers about management of paddy straw naturally by initiating a special campaign to make farmers aware of hazards straw burning.<br \/>\nThis campaign was kicked off by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Bhupinder Pal Singh from this village with the support of local villagers. The aim was to make the farmers aware of the effective use of paddy straw as a recharging nutrient for soil fertility. In the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner a four feet deep, 20 feet long and eight feet broad hole was dug to be filled through a special method with cow dung and around 2.5 ton paddy straw.<br \/>\nThe hole was then covered with the soil to be opened before next paddy sowing season. The experts of the agriculture department accompanying the Additional Deputy Commissioner apprised the farmers that by the next sowing season of paddy this paddy straw would turn into compost which could be aptly utilized in place of fertilizers. They said that this compost would enhance the fertility of the soil on one hand and reduce the input cost of the farmers on other hand by reducing the usage of the fertilizers. The experts assured the farmers that if this practice was continued for three consecutive seasons then there would be no need of using the fertilizers on that chunk of land in future.<br \/>\nDivulging the details of the campaign, Additional Deputy Commissioner said the primary aim of this campaign was to make the farmers aware of the fact that they could transform their destiny by effective usage of this paddy straw. He said that burning of the straw was no solution as it casts a castigating effect of climate besides causing a huge damage to human and soil health. Dr Bhupinder Pal Singh said that the farmers could easily get the ingredients of this method at their backyard as they were having heaps of cow dung and paddy straw that could be effectively used for this purpose.<br \/>\nThe Additional Deputy Commissioner said that if the farmers come forward and adopt this method then it would immensely benefit the society besides enhancing the income of the farmers. He asked the Agriculture department to zealously spread this message in every nook and corner of the district so that more and more farmers were encouraged to adopt this practice.<br \/>\nOn the occasion farmers of the village led by Sarpanch Mr. Balwinder singh welcomed the initiative of the district administration.
