{"id":9913,"date":"2017-11-11T12:19:46","date_gmt":"2017-11-11T12:19:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/punjabnews24.com\/?p=9913"},"modified":"2017-11-11T12:19:46","modified_gmt":"2017-11-11T12:19:46","slug":"bcci-rejects-nada-demand-for-conducting-dope-tests-on-indian-cricketers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/bcci-rejects-nada-demand-for-conducting-dope-tests-on-indian-cricketers\/","title":{"rendered":"BCCI rejects NADA demand for conducting dope tests on Indian cricketers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi<br \/>\nIn a stern response to India\u2019s anti-doping body NADA, the BCCI has said that the government body has no jurisdiction to conduct dope tests on Indian cricketers.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter written on November 8 to NADA chief Navin Agarwal, BCCI CEO Rahul Johri made it clear that there is no requirement for NADA to test its cricketers since the board is not a National Sports Federation (NSF) and its present anti-doping system is robust enough.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is relevant to mention here that the BCCI is not a National Sports Federation. Accordingly, NADA does not have jurisdiction to conduct dope testing of Indian cricketers in any domestic or international event organised or under the aegis of BCCI,\u201d Johri wrote in the letter.<\/p>\n<p>(Follow The Tribune on Facebook; and Twitter @thetribunechd)<br \/>\n\u201cIn light of the aforesaid, there is no requirement for any BCCI official to coordinate with NADA for dope testing of Indian cricketers either during competitions or out of completions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The BCCI response was prepared with instructions from the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators.<\/p>\n<p>Besides responding to the NADA chief, Johri also wrote back to the sports secretary, who had approached the BCCI in October to cooperate with NADA.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry had stated that lack of cooperation from the BCCI on the subject might run the risk of NADA not complying with World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Code.<\/p>\n<p>Johri said the BCCI\u2019s existing anti-doping mechanism is robust enough.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe BCCI already has a robust dope testing mechanism which is employed for both during competitions and out-of- competitions and the testing of samples by IDTM is already being done at WADA accredited laboratory (NDTL) under aegis of the Sports Ministry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He claimed that the BCCI is compliant with the WADA Code.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou will appreciate that for analysis and testing of samples, the BCCI adheres to the WADA International Standard of Laboratories and the WADA International Standard for Testing and Investigations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccordingly, the BCCI has engaged the services of same expert sample collection agency that is also engaged by the ICC to prove sample collection services viz, International Doping Tests and Management (IDTM).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe IDTM sends the collected samples for testing to a WADA accredited laboratory viz, National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL), as mandated by WADA.
