Eleven pilgrims were killed and another injured in a road accident at Keward area of Kishtwar on Tuesday morning when a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the track and rolled down the gorge.

Kishtwat Deputy Commissioner Angrez Singh Rana said, “Eleven people have been killed and one injured in road accident at Keward area of Padder. They were on their way to Kishtwar from Padder when the incident happened in the morning.”

SSP Rajinder Kumar Gupta said, “Only a girl survived the accident. Six males and five females were among the dead.”

“I am on the spot and have launched a rescue operation. A few bodies have been retrieved from the gorge; the rescue operation is still on,” he added.
