Out of the total of 127.24 LMT of wheat procurement from the grain markets across the State, up to May 26 the Government Agencies have purchased 126.67 LMT while the private traders have purchased 57560 MT, informed an official spokesman of the government of Punjab.

He added that more than 125.98LMT of the wheat purchased by the government agencies which amounts to approximately 99.61%, has been lifted from the mandis . Besides, Rs.19, 258.53 crore have been released to the farmers through the commission agents of the state.

The spokesman further informed that amongst the State procuring agencies, PUNGRAIN has purchased 29.44LMT, MARKFED 27.74 LMT, PUNSUP 24.40 LMT, PSWC 17.18 LMT and Punjab Agro 12.64 LMT. Similarly, FCI has purchased 15.25 LMT of the wheat sold in the mandis of the State.
