Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the growing unemployment, Congress president Rahul Gandhi today promised if his party was voted to power, it would create 22 lakh government jobs within a year.

Addressing a rally in Samastipur, Gandhi said: “We will fill all 22 lakh posts lying vacant in government departments. Besides, youth would also be given opportunities in 10 lakh panchayats.”

The Congress president slammed PM Modi for not speaking about promises of jobs, deposit of money in the poor’s accounts but only talking about surgical strike. “Modi ji knows if he speaks on his promises of jobs, money deposits in the poor’s account or farmers’ welfare, he would be beaten up. So he only talks about the surgical strike,” he said.

Gandhi also promised a ‘farmers’ budget’ which would be announced before the national budget. “In farmers’ budget, welfare schemes, setting of food processing units, loan waiver, etc., would be included, while it would be announced before the national budget,” said Gandhi, urging people to vote for the mahagathbandhan’s nominee Ashok Kumar against the NDA’s nominee and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan’s brother Ramchandra Paswan in Samastipur, a reserved Lok Sabha constituency.

The Congress president also reiterated the Nayay scheme in which the Congress has promised to give Rs 6,000 per month to 25 crore families of the country. “As soon as people will get Rs 6,000 per month, they would spend in purchasing various products.
