1,863 Sarpanchs and 22,203 Panches elected unopposed

After the end of the nomination papers withdrawal process for the 13276 Gram Panchayats in the State of Punjab, now 28,375 Sarpanch candidates will try their luck, while 1,863 Sarpanches have been elected unopposed.

Divulging further, an official spokesperson of the commission said that 1,04,027 Panch candidates will contest the election as 22,203 panchs have also been elected unopposed.
