In a major mishap, nine coaches of New Farakka Express derailed Wednesday morning near Harchandpur Railway station in Raebareli district of Uttar Pradesh.

At least six persons were killed and 21 others injured in the accident.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the the district magistrate, the superintendent of police, health authorities and the NDRF to provide all possible help to the affected people.

The NDRF team and local administration officers have reached the spot to help in relief and rescue operations.

The Chief Minister expressed his condolences for the deceased and directed to the director general of police to take all necessary action. He has announced Rs 2 lakhs compensation for the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the seriously injured.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has announced an ex gratia relief of Rs 5 lakh to the kind of the deseased and Rs. 1 lakh to the grievously injured and Rs. 50,000 in case of minor injuries.
