75% PADDY LIFTED FROM MANDIS IN THE DISTRICT-DC

DC DIRECTS OFFICERS TO ENSURE SMOOTH, PROMPT AND HASSLE FREE PROCUREMENT AND LIFTING OF GRAINS

In wake of the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, 75% of the total paddy procured in the various mandis of district till October 6 has been lifted in Jalandhar.

As per the information since the starting of procurement of grains in the district from October 1 in the state, 1,18,840 metric ton paddy has arrived in the mandis across the district out of which 1, 10, 914 metric ton has been purchased by the various agencies. Meanwhile, today 18906 metric ton of paddy had arrived in the district out of which 18280 metric ton was purchased by the various procurement agencies. Adhering by the state government guidelines to lift the paddy within 48 hours of its purchase the procurement agencies have till now lifted 55189 metric tons of paddy out of total 73799 metric ton of grains procured on October 6, which was around 75% of the total procured grains.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner in a daily review meeting at his residence in the morning directed the officers to further expedite the process of lifting of crops. He said that the each and every grain of the farmers must be lifted at the earliest, so that the crop doesn’t pile up in the mandis. Mr. Sharma said that the deadline of lifting the crops within 48 hours must be adhered strictly.

The Deputy Commissioner said that any sort of laxity in this duty would be dealt with a heavy hand. He also asked the Officers to increase the field visits so that the process of procuring, lifting and payments of grains to the farmers could be carried on efficaciously. Mr. Sharma asked the officers to interact with the farmers and other people in the grain markets and get acquainted about the procurement operations at the ground root level.

The Deputy Commissioner further said that all out efforts must be made so as to ensure that farmers coming to the mandis do not face any sort of inconvenience in selling their harvest. Mr. Sharma, while reiterating the firm commitment of the state government to lift each and every grain of paddy from the mandis, said that every officer/ official must accomplish this task zealously.
