Mehbooba announces Rs 1 crore for development schemes in Kulgam

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today announced the release of about Rs 1 crore for the completion of various schemes for providing various facilities to the people living in different areas of Kulgam district in south Kashmir.

She made the announcements during her meetings with deputations at Kulgam as part of her public outreach programme for grievance redressal on the first day of the two-day visit to the district today. So far, Mehbooba has conducted such programmes at Pulwama, Anantnag, Kupwara, Budgam and Baramulla in the Kashmir valley, and Ramban, Samba and Kathua districts in Jammu province.

The Chief Minister announced release of Rs 50 lakh for the early completion of Peth Devsar lift irrigation scheme. She also announced Rs 30 lakh for the completion of the Water Supply Scheme, Panzgam, Naar, and directed its operationalisation by January-end.

Announcing release of Rs 10 lakh for the Bar library, she also directed officials to explore the possibility of construction of an auditorium in the town.

A civil society delegation demanded that the Middle School Chawalgam should be upgraded to high school. It also sought arrangements for Civil Services coaching for the youth during winter, introduction of more streams at the local ITI, widening of the Wanpoh-Chawalgam-Ahrabal, Chawalgam-Sangas and Tamil Okey-Chawalgam roads and the introduction of agro-tourism.
