Khattar on three-day Dubai visit from today

Chandigarh,
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will embark on another foreign jaunt tomorrow in an apparent bid to woo foreign investors.

The seven-member delegation, which includes Industry Minister Vipul Goel, Sadhaura MLA Balwant Singh, Chief Secretary DS Dhesi, Principal Secretary (Industries) Sudhir Rajpal, Hafed Managing Director Shekhar Vidyarthi and ADC to CM Alok Verma, will hold parleys with captains of industry during the three-day tour.

Notwithstanding Opposition’s criticism of his foreign jaunts at the cost of the public exchequer, Khattar said today that the aim of the visit was to invite investors to Haryana.

“Some investors are already working on their projects in the state and more investors are interested in coming to the state,” he said, adding that investors from Dubai would be invited to increase investment in Haryana further.

During over three years in office, Khattar had undertaken three foreign trips — visiting the US, Canada, Japan, China, Singapore and Hong Kong — with a view to attract foreign investment.

Several ministers, including Ram Bilas Sharma, OP Dhankar, Anil Vij, Capt Abhimanyu, Kavita Jain, Vipul Goel and Karan Dev Kamboj, had followed in the footsteps of the Chief Minister, undertaking foreign jaunts at the government’s expense.
