Gujrat : Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani is leading by 7,600 votes from Rajkot West
As early trends in the Gujarat Assembly Elections Results pour in, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in 105 seats, while the Congress has secured 76 seats. The BJP has lost from PM Narendra Modi’s hometown Vadnagar in Unjha constituency where Congress candidate Dr Asha Patel has secured over 43,000 votes. Meanwhile, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani is now leading against Congress’ Indranil Rajguru from Rajkot West constituency by over 18,000 votes. The results of the bitterly fought elections in the state, where the BJP has been in power for 22 years, is a litmus test for the Opposition Congress whose electioneering was steered by party president Rahul Gandhi. The ruling BJP hopes to beat anti-incumbency and retain power for a sixth straight term. While a majority of the exit polls have given the BJP a clear-cut edge, the Congress is also expected to increase its seat tally. Counting of votes for the 182 assembly seats began in the state at 8 am. Congress President Rahul Gandhi extensively toured the state and led the Congress campaign from the front, and Prime Minister Modi was BJP’s face in his home state. While the Congress criticised the BJP over a host of issues like demonetisation, quota for Patidars, and GST, the BJP accused the Congress of conspiring with Pakistan in the Gujarat elections during the campaign.

The Rahul Gandhi-led party is also hoping that the support of Hardik Patel, Jignesh Mewani and Alpesh Thakor would translate into votes. Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017 Constituency List
