Neha Dhupia: I’ve always been on the stage to give awards; this was the first time I was getting one

Actor Neha Dhupia is overwhelmed, content and full of gratitude. Not just because she had her hands full throughout this year with a TV show, a radio show, live events and a successful film, but also because she got applauded for her hard work. The actor recently bagged the best supporting actor award for her performance in Tumhari Sulu, also starring Vidya Balan.

“I’ve been around for too long and I’ve always been on stage giving away awards, and I’ve never been on stage to receive it. It feels really amazing. You have no idea. I still keep looking at it. Rather the night when I got the award, I literally slept with it, in my bed,” shares Neha, who has been nominated seven times earlier for various awards. The actor adds that she would not like to look at it as a great year-end but a new beginning.

This year, Neha was also seen in Hindi Medium and Qarib Qarib Singlle, and both the films garnered great response at the box office and were lauded by fans and critics alike. Asked if the wait has been worth it, she tells us, “I don’t think the wait was worth 15 years but yes, I definitely slowed down on the number of films that I was doing and lots of questions were asked. So, it was certainly worth my patience because I was choosing films that were content driven and then what part I was playing didn’t matter much.”
