Amid outrage and condemnation in both houses on the treatment of Kulbhushan Jadhav’s wife and mother in Pakistan, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today made a statement in Rajya Sabha today.

She said that a meeting of a mother with her son & a wife with her husband was turned into a propaganda tool by Pakistan. She added that India is seeking to get a permanent relief from ICJ.

She added that it was nothing like a humanitarian gesture. Human rights of the family members were violated again & again & an environment of fear was created for them.

Sushma swaraj also said that not just his wife but bindi & mangalsutra of his mother were also removed. She said that she spoke to Jadhav’s mother who told her that as soon as she reached in the room, Kulbhushan asked her ‘Baba kaise hain?’ because he thought a mishap has taken place when he wasn’t around. She added that both the married women were made to like widows.

The External Affairs Minister said that even after Jadhav’s Wife’s repeated attempts, her shoes were not returned. On Pakistan’s claims that there was a camera or a recorder in the shoes, Sushma Swaraj said that nothing can be more absurd than this as she traveled in 2 flights with those shoes on. She strongly said that it is an absurdity beyond measure.
