Top seed Simona Halep beat 2016 champion Angelique Kerber 6-3, 4-6 ,9-7 to enter finals of women singles in Australian Open; Defending champion Roger Federer storms into men singles semifinals of the Australian Open for record 14th times.

Defending champion Roger Federer argued with an umpire but mostly let his racket do the talking as he beat Tomas Berdych for the ninth time running to reach the Australian Open semi-finals on Wednesday.

Despite the 7-6, 6-3, 6-4 scoreline, it was not all smooth sailing against the burly Czech for the 36-year-old Federer as he arrived in the last four of a grand slam for the 43rd time — and the 11th time without dropping a set.

In women singles, World number one Simona Halep set up an Australian Open final against Caroline Wozniacki after a thrilling 6-3, 4-6, 9-7 battle past former champion Angelique Kerber.

In the mixed doubles, India’s Rohan Bopanna and Timea Babos of Hungary has entered the semifinals of the Australian open.
