Jharkhand beat Jammu and Kashmir 4-3 (3-3) to win the Junior National Football Championship for BC Roy Trophy at Una.

The final was decided on a penalty shootout as the match was tied 3-3 after the end of regulation time. The extra time yielded no result but the Jharkhand team managed to edge past J&K in the penalty shootout.

Jharkhand captain SJ Boilen Lhungdum scored the first goal of the match in the ninth minute. Joshan Bhogta scored the second goal in the 14 minute. Jharkhand went into the break with a 2-0 lead. Jammu and Kashmir came back with a changed gameplan and Aadil Tariq scored their first goal in the 62th minute. Shakir Ahmed Sheikh restored parity in the 59th min. Sheikh scored another goal in the 87th minute to give a 3-2 lead to the team. But Jharkhand’s Chhotu Tirkey scored a goal in the next minute to level the scoreline. The extra time too failed to break the deadlock.

In the penalty shootout, Jharkhand scored through Altav Ali, SJ Boilen Lhungdum, Chhotu Tirkey and Vishal KR. Sugata Dey missed the shot. For Jammu and Kashmir, Shakir Ahmad Sheikh, Hayat Basheer, Adeel Tariq scored while Aafreen Basharat Parray and Ateeb Ahmed Dar missed their shots.
