Job fair would open new vistas of employment for youth – DC

Around 350 students from the various Industrial Training Institutes and Polytechnics were today shortlisted by the big industrial units for jobs on first day of mega job fair at CT institute in the city.

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma specially went to the institute for having first hand information about the job fair.

Interacting with the students who appeared for the interview on day one, the Deputy Commissioner said that this was a noble initiative by the state government led by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to provide job to every household. He said that in this first of its kind initiative the industrial giants were visiting the campuses of colleges to select youth for job. Mr Sharma said that the results were also encouraging as hundreds of students have arrived here to participate in this mega job fair. He said that this job fair would open number of vistas for the youth to be gainfully employed for living a life with dignity and pride.

The Deputy Commissioner said that today on the first day of this fair around 700 students have applied for the interview out of which around 350 have been shortlisted around 10 industries for giving jobs. He said that the companies would select these students as per their need in due course of time. Mr Sharma further said that the selection of the students have been made purely on merit through a fair and transparent system.

On the occasion Mr Charanjeet Singh Channi and Mr Harpreet Singh from the CT group also apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the number of students and visiting industrialists.

On the occasion Deputy Director of Employment Department Mrs. Sanjeeda Beri was also present.
