On the eve of the 127th birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated Dr Ambedkar National Memorial at 26, Alipur Road in Delhi. This is the place where Dr Ambedkar attained Mahaparinirvana on December 6, 1956.

The Dr Ambedkar Mahaparinirvana Sthal at 26, Alipur Road, was dedicated to the nation by Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the then Prime Minister of India, in December 2003.

Prime Minister Modi had laid the foundation stone of the memorial on March 21, 2016.

Prime Minister took a detailed tour of the memorial which has been given a shape of the book to signify the immense contribution of Dr Ambedkar to the framing of the constitution of India.

The memorial comprises detailed exhibition on the life and times of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and displays his struggle and relentless search for ensuring social equality and justice in the country.

The memorial also has an exact replica of the room of Dr Ambedkar as it was in real life with furniture and assorted things being kept in the same way.

The memorial is an exhaustive collection of works of Bharat Ratna and recaptures his life with many interesting and memorable stills.

PM also visited the first floor of the memorial where high display screens tell his life story.

Addressing a gathering on the occasion Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the memorial signifies the importance this govt attaches to Dr Ambedkar.

He called the memorial both divine and magnificent and called the memorial as a tribute to the last days of the glorious son of mother India.

Pm said that the government is working to realise the dreams of Babasaheb Ambedkar. He said that every scheme is working for social justice in the nation.

Prime Minister reiterated the resolve of his government to ensure social justice at all costs. He categorically stated that the centre will not allow any tinkering with the laws that relate to the crime against sc and sts.

On the contrary, he said that his govt has further strengthened the laws that have increased the ambit of cognizable offences.

He launched a vociferous attack on the Congress party saying that the Congress party never gave Dr Ambedkar the recognition and respect he deserved.

PM openly challenged the Congress to reveal what it has done to recognise the work and contribution of Dr Ambedkar to the nation.

PM also said that government has been working relentlessly on ensuring social justice in the country.

He said that earlier governments were responsible for the culture of shirking and delaying work in the government corridors.
