ASK OFFICERS TO MAINTAIN COMMUNAL HARMONY AND PEACE AT EVERY COST

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma today said that district administration was keeping a strict vigil over the law and order situation in Jalandhar and any attempt to foil peace and amity would be dealt strongly.

Interacting with the officer here at the District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner asked all the Sub Divisional Magistrates and Executive Magistrates to keep a strict vigil over the law and order situation in the areas of their respective jurisdiction in wake of impending judgment against Dera Sacha Sauda head. He asked the officers not to leave their stations for two days. Mr. Sharma categorically said that any sort of callousness towards duty in this hour was not tolerable adding that the officers should tie up with their counterparts in Police department and prepare a joint strategy for dealing with any sort of untoward situation.

The Deputy Commissioner said that a strict check must be kept over the rumor mongers so that people were not misled by anyone. He directed the officers to adopt zero tolerance towards the miscreants or anti-social elements trying to create any sort of disturbance. Mr Sharma said that the officer must lay major thrust on maintaining law and order situation in the district along with promoting the ethos of communal harmony, peace and brotherhood at every cost.

The Deputy Commissioner also solicited the support of people for maintenance of peace and harmony. He said that people should not get panicky as the district administration was fully vigilant to tackle any sort of situation. Mr. Sharma asked the officers to ensure that in compliance with the orders of the state government all the Educational Institutions within their jurisdiction were closed tomorrow. He said that strict action would be taken against the educational institutes violating the directions of the state.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner has imposed section 144-A in the entire district. Likewise, people have been debarred from carrying weapons and wireless sets except the Police and para military forces.

Prominent amongst other present on the occasion included Sub Divisional Magistrates Dr Jai Inder Singh, Mr Subash Chander, Ms Navneet Kaur Bal and Mr Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa, Assistant Commissioners Dr Deepak Bhatia and Dr Baljinder Singh Dhillon besides other officers of Revenue department.
