A man died and another was injured during a blast at a scrap dealer’s house at Indira colony, Harinder Nagar, here on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Vikramjeet Singh, a scrap dealer, and the injured as Manohar Singh.

Police said the incident occured at around 9 am.

SP City Kesar Singh said, “It was a low-intensity blast and occurred around 9 am. We were informed about it around 10.30 am after which we reached the spot.”

Station House Officer Tripuri Rajesh Malhotra said, “Gurcharan Singh, where the blast occured, deals in scrap and had refrigerator and air-conditioner compressors at his place. As per preliminary investigation, the blast seems to have occurred because of a compressor. The deceased was alone in the house when the incident took place. We are further investigating the matter.”
