Rahul Tripathi’s half-century and leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal’s four-for helped Rajasthan Royals beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 30 runs in their Indian Premier League match. The win keeps Rajasthan in the race for playoffs while the Bangalore team has been edged out of the race.

Rajasthan are now fourth in the points table with 14 points while RCB’s campaign is over, thanks to their inconsistent performances in this edition. The Kohli-led Bangalore fell short while chasing 164/5 and were eventually skittled out for 134.

Gopal (4/16) wrecked the visitors with his googlies and flippers. He was ably supported by Krishnappa Gowtham (1/6) and Ish Sodhi (1/31). Pacers Jaydev Unadkat and Ben Laughlin also shared two wickets each. For RCB, AB de Villiers (53 off 35 balls) and Parthiv Patel (33 off 21) did the bulk of scoring. Gowtham started the onslaught with the wicket of skipper Virat Kohli in the third over. He then got rid of Patel, de Villiers, Moeen Ali and Mandeep Singh in quick succession. Earlier, pacer Umesh Yadav took three wickets to peg the hosts back. Opener Tripathi’s unbeaten 58-ball 80, including five fours and three sixes, cameos by skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Heinrich Klassen helped the hosts score 164/5.
