Villages of changar area falling in the semi hilly areas of Punjab and Himachal Border are facing a major problem of scarcity of water for irrigation and drinking purposes. With the visionary and concerted efforts of Speaker Rana KP Singh, the state government is about to initiate a project of lift irrigation at a cost of Rs. 46 crore. An amount of Rs. 9 crore is to be spent in the first phase of this project and if the economy of the fiscal condition state remains favourable then Rs. 25 crore can be further spent in this financial year.
When CM Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh visited this area with Speaker Rana KP Singh, he came to know about the problems of people in desparate need of water for drinking and irrigation. Taking immediate steps to solve the problem, CM Captain Amarinder Singh gavehis nod to Lift irrigation scheme in the budget session. Finance Minister Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal is soon going to sanction the required funds for this project.
Overjoyed people of the area gave the credit to Speaker Rana KP Singh by expressing their gratitude towards him stating that this initiative taken by the state government is going to entirely change their lifestyle . It would open new vistas of agriculture and economic prosperity .
