Governor NN Vohra met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh here on Friday and discussed with him the security scenario in the

state following the Centre’s May 17 decision to suspend operations against the militants during Ramzan.

Officials at the North Block said the meeting between the Governor and Rajnath lasted about 30 minutes during which he briefed the Home Minister about the prevailing security situation in the state, particularly in the Kashmir valley, which had seen a spurt in violence in recent months.

The ongoing suspension of operations by security forces and its impact in the Kashmir valley was the main issue which the two deliberated in details, the officials said, adding that an assessment discussion also took place on the initiatives taken by Centre’s special representative Dineshwar Sharma in holding talks with a cross-section of society.
