Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday met disgruntled Karnataka MLAs led by MB Patil in the national capital but the talks remained inconclusive.

After the meeting, Patil said the next plan of action would be decided after discussions with the 15-20 MLAs, who were unhappy with the Cabinet expansion. He, however, asserted that he had no plans to quit the Congress.

Disgruntlement is brewing in coalition partner JD too as two senior ministers from the party are said to be miffed over the portfolios allotted to them. Sources said GT Devegowda, who has been allotted higher education, and CS Puttaraju, who got minor irrigation, were unhappy.

Devegowda, who emerged as a giant killer after defeating Siddaramaiah in Chamundeshwari (Mysuru), and Puttaraju, who vacated his Lok Sabha seat and won the Melukote assembly segment, were eyeing key portfolios, including transport. CM HD Kumaraswamy said no one had expressed their dissatisfaction with him personally.

At the Congress meeting, senior leader Ahmed Patel, Karnataka Congress chief Dinesh Gundu Rao and new cabinet minister Krishna Byre Gowda were also present.
