Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across the state on Saturday.

Thousands of Muslims thronged various Eidgahs and mosques this morning to offer prayers which was followed by exchange of greetings and pleasantries.

In Jammu, the biggest congregation was held at Eidgah, Residency Road, where thousands of people, including children, offered Eid Namaz and exchanged greetings.

All mosques were highly decorated and people thronged in large numbers to offer special prayers since early morning.

Elaborate arrangements were made by the district administration for smooth celebrations of the festival across the district.

Jammu East MLA Rajesh Gupta, Divisional Commissioner Hemant Kumar Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Arun Manhas besides other senior officers were also present on the occasion. Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety in Leh also by Sunni Muslims and Norbakshi Muslims.

Special prayers were held at mosques in Leh in morning. The Idgah in the town witnessed a large turnout of Muslim devotees for the prayers.

Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs Minister Chhering Dorjey Lakrook, Executive Councillor for Agriculture of Ladakh Area Hill Development Council Tsering Angdus and former minister and Nawang MLA Rigzin Jora also attended the prayers and greeted people.
