Siraj bowls India A to big win
Bengaluru
Pacer Mohammed Siraj bagged his maiden 10-wicket match haul as India A beat South Africa A by an innings and 30 runs in the first ‘Test’ here today. After his 5/56 in the first innings, Siraj took 5/73 in the second as South Africa A were all out for 308 in 128.5 overs. The visitors, though, made the Indian bowlers toil on the final day as it took them 88.5 overs to get the final six wickets.
The South African side was reduced to 121/5 when Rajneesh Gurbani (2/45) sent back Zubayr Hamza (63) this morning. However, Rudi Second (94) and Shaun von Berg (50) added 119 runs for the sixth wicket, frustrating the home team for more than 50 overs. The visitors didn’t crumble even when Von Berg was caught by Ravikumar Samarth off Gurbani; it took India another 12 overs to remove Dane Piedt (8) and break the stand for the seventh wicket. Fittingly, it was Siraj who dismissed last man Duanne Oliver.
