45 hurt in Mumbai refinery fire
Mumbai
At least 45 employees of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) were injured after a fire broke out at its refinery at Mahaul in Mumbai’s Chembur area on Wednesday.
Six of them were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The condition of one of them was serious, the police said. The fire, classified as Level 3, was first reported at 2.45 pm, Mumbai’s Chief Fire Officer PS Rahangdale said. The company said the fire broke out at the hydrocracker plant in the refinery. The heat caused by the fire led to pressure build-up, resulting in an explosion.
