Khaki-clad sloganeers were from forest dept, says DGP

Jammu
A viral video recently showed men in khaki raising anti-national slogans in the Kashmir valley, raising questions whether the police are facing a revolt. It has, however, turned out that the men raising the slogans were forest department employees in khakis.

“They are from the forest department and we have given our rebuttal and uploaded it on the social media. Again we would say that policemen are happy, they have no problems and are doing their duty,” Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh told The Tribune in reply to a question.
When asked whether an inquiry had been initiated, the DGP said: “The Kashmir police are investigating.”

Dilbag Singh had an informal interaction with mediapersons here on Sunday evening. He was on his first visit to Jammu after assuming charge as the acting DGP on September 7.

After reaching Jammu on Sunday morning, Dilbag visited Dhirti village near Kakryal where three heavily armed militants were killed during an encounter with security forces on Thursday.

“I was in touch with my force during the encounter and talked to policemen and CRPF personnel injured in the attack. Today, I visited the encounter site and I met the family which helped the police and presented a token of love to them. I also met injured personnel at the Kakryal hospital,” the DGP said.

He refused to divulge any detail on the investigation into the attack.

“The case has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency and it has started its process,” he added.
