PAU OBSERVES SWACCHTA PAKHWADA

The Directorate of Students’ Welfare (DSW), Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized an essay writing competition with an aim to spread awareness and evoke sensitivity to virtues of sanitation and cleanliness under “Swacchta Pakhwada.” The students from four constituent colleges of PAU participated in the competition enthusiastically and wrote on the topic “Innovative Ways for Spreading the Message of Hygiene.” The programme was held under the guidance of Dr Ravinder Kaur Dhaliwal, Director Students’ Welfare, PAU.
The College of Home Science, PAU, also observed “Swachhta Pakhwada” for two-weeks under the aegis of Swachhta Club, established by the College. Various activities such as interclass essay writing, slogan writing and poster making competitions were organized in addition to observing ‘Green College Campus Day.’ On the concluding day, Dr (Mrs) Jatinder Kaur Gulati, Dean, College of Home Science, PAU, gave away prizes to the winners of all three competitions. She also advised the students to contribute towards clean and green campus.

Mrs Satvir Kaur delivered a lecture on clean and green environment. She said, “Before cleaning surroundings, we must incorporate cleanliness in our mind and body.” Stressing on reducing the waste at individual level, she suggested replacing disposable things with reusable things.
The programme, organized by DSW, was jointly coordinated by Dr Devinder Kochar, Associate Professor, Zoology; Mrs Prabhjeet Kaur Gill, Welfare Officer (Girls); and Mr Satvir Singh, Welfare Officer (Boys), PAU.
