The Union Government has moved Supreme Court in Ayodhya case, and filed a fresh plea seeking the permission to restore all excess land acquired adjacent to the disputed Ayodhya site to its rightful owners.
Union Minister Prakash Jawadekar has said that BJP committed to constructing a grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya by taking legal routes. The move could see some form of construction of the Ram temple if the handover is allowed. The 33-page application seeks the apex court’s modification of 2003 order to permit the return of a little over 67 acres of “non-disputed” surplus land around the disputed structure in Ayodhya to the original owners. Currently status quo is being maintained at the surplus land.
