Representatives of several Sikh organisations today visited Darbar sahib and condemned the partial demolition of its deori. Sukhpal Singh Khaira, MLA and president of the Punjabi Ekta Party, along with Paramjit Kaur Khalra, Punjab Democratic Alliance candidate from Khadoor sahib, demanded resignation of SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal and an apology by SAD president Sukhbir Badal, holding them morally responsible for the “reckless” act.

Talking to the media after paying obeisance at Darbar Sahib, Khaira lashed out at the Longowal, alleging that he was handpicked by te Badals to implement the secret agenda of the BJP and RSS to demolish Sikh institutions.

Khaira said it was strange that despite the SGPC having an annual budget of more than Rs 1,200 crore, it outsourced kar sewa of ancient structures that needed to be preserved to different groups.
