Brahmpura flays Badal family for ignoring the issues of the state while in power

Chandigarh
Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, president of SAD (Taksali) and Khadoor Sahib MP flayed the Badal family ignoring the issues of the state while they are in power in the state.

He said that five times chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had been demanding Chandigarh for Punjab when he was out of power and its political opponent party congress was at the centre. But when Badal had his government in Punjab and its alliance partner BJP was at the centre, Badal never raised the issue of Chandigarh only to placate the BJP.

He also blamed Harsimrat kaur Badal, who is currently union minister for food processing industry for the plight of Punjabi farmers.”She claims to 41 projects to her credit, but except a Kinnow processing factory in Fazilka, no other big project has been brought to the state. Farmers have been left to grow wheat and paddy which do not increase their income. If there is some fruit and vegetable processing unit in one or two districts, more areas can be brought under fruit and vegetables. It could save Punjab from drought like situation in future, he added.”It has led the poor farmers to commit suicides in the state,” he said.

He also termed Modi government’s move to pay the small farmers Rs 6000 annually a cruel joke.”It amounts to an insult to the farmers. Its makes Rs 16 per day which is too small to consider worth anything,” brahmpura added.“Punjab has always been meted out step motherly behaviour by the centre while weak governments of Parkash Singh Badal and puppet governments of the congress have failed to safe guard the its issues. The centre snatched Punjab’s precious water by digging up Rajashtan canal without any royality, but Punjabi farmers are not allowed to buy any agriculture land in Rajashtan. But Prakash singh Badal failed to lift their ban from the Rajashtan BJP government (its alliance partner) during its last regime,” Brahmpura said in a press release to the media.

“Whatever Punjab buys from other states, it has to pay royalty to them, but when Punjab’s only 27 percent land is irrigated by canal water, its water is being diverted to Rajasthan and Haryana. But Badal family chose to safeguard their personal interests and made some property deals over it ignoring the interest of state,” Brahmpura said.
