In Uttar Pradesh, the death toll in Barabanki liquor tragedy has risen to twelve. More than thirty persons who consumed liquor are under treatment at Lucknow and 10 at Barabanki.

Meanwhile, the main accused in the incident Pappu Jaiswal has been arrested. Three persons including salesman had already been arrested. Government has already constituted a three-member team headed by Excise Commissioner to probe the tragic incident and submit its report within 48 hours.

Divisional Commissioner Ayodhya and IG police are members of this committee. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced financial assistance of two lakh rupees each to the family members of the diseased.
Ten personnel of excise department including district excise officer have been suspended. Concerned police Circle Officer, police Inspector, Sub Inspector and two constables have also been suspended.
