Badungar scuttling justice, says Capt
Chandigarh, October 1
Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has accused SGPC chief Kirpal Singh Badungar of obstructing the course of justice by refusing to appear before the Justice Ranjit Singh (retd) Commission, which is probing sacrilege cases.
Instead of cooperating with the commission for the sake of the state’s peace and communal harmony, Badungar is refusing to join the investigation, exposing some nefarious interest in covering up the sacrilege incidents, the Chief Minister said in a statement issued here. The SGPC should have welcomed the move to set up an independent commission instead of adopting a negative approach, Capt Amarinder said, lashing out at the religious institution for issuing misleading statements at the behest of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).The Chief Minister said the SGPC, being the body responsible for the protection of Sikh rights and welfare, should have raised its voice against the incidents of sacrilege.
