Death toll from floods and landslides rises to 50

The death toll from floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains in Nepal has rose to 50.Thirty five persons are still missing and twenty five have been injured in various parts of the country due to incessant rainfall since Thursday.

Seventeen persons died in Province no 1, Eight in Province 2, Thirteen in Province 3, Two each in Province 5 and Karnaili Province.

Eight people lost their lives in Kathmandu valley. Hundreds of houses have been damaged and thousands of people displaced.Transportation was also dispruted as many highways were blocked due to floods and landslides.

More than 1100 people have been rescued so far. According to Flood Forecasting Division water level in all major and medium rivers of the country are likely to remain near at caution mark.

Meteorological Forecasting Division has predicted heavy rainfall at a few places of the eastern and central regions and at one or two places of the western region.
