Nine persons died in a road accident in Sivasagar district on Monday.The incident occurred at Thowra area under Dimow police station when two vehicles carrying passengers coming from opposite directions collided head-on.

Twelve passengers sustained injuries in the accident. Ten of them have been shifted to Assam Medical College Hospital in Dibrugarh for better medical care while the remaining two are undergoing treatment at Demow.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal has expressed grief on the loss of lives in the tragic road accident. He instructed concerned authorities to do needful for the proper medical care of the injured persons.
