A bus accident in Peru killed at least 23 people when it fell into a gorge after travelling along a twisting mountain.

The accident occurred when the bus was travelling along its route between Cusco and Puerto Maldonado, when it fell into a 100 metre ravine.

Atleast 50 people were anticipated to be on board with dozens of passengers getting injured and transported to hospital. And as of now the police is investigating the cause of the crash.

The accident comes in line with frequent crashes happening in Peru, where vehicle and highway maintenance is poor and roads snake along precarious mountains.
