At least nine people died and around 300 injured when an earthquake of 6.4 magnitude jolted Albania triggering panic amongst residents.

The strongest earthquake in decade has caused at least one building to collapse in the nearby port town of Durres which witnessed major damage. The U.S. Geological Survey predicted the second powerful tremor may hit the region within two months.
