Can’t satisfy anti-CAA protesters Javadekar

Hitting out at CAA and NPR protesters, the government today said when the police took action on Jamia University campus, they had problems and when action was not taken in case of JNU, they again had problems.

Union Minister Prakash Javedakar, while responding to a volley of questions relating to the Citizenship Act and National Population Register at a media briefing after the meeting of the Union Cabinet, also attacked the Opposition parties saying: “When the NPR was introduced by the Congress-led government in 2010, it was welcomed, but the same people are dubbing it bad when the NDA regime is repeating it.”

When asked about yesterday’s police action in UP, he said, “No action is being taken in Shaheen Bagh, there is a complaint… Police went to Jamia there was a complaint, they did not go the JNU there is a complaint. This is not done.”

Responding to questions on NPR, he said giving date of birth or place of birth of parents is optional in the exercise. “If you don’t have it or don’t remember, don’t give it … Many questions are optional,” he added.
