Real Madrid vs Spurs, Champions League: Real Madrid held to 1-1 draw by Spurs

Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur both stood on six points coming into Match day 3 with two wins in the first two games of their group encounters. Things didn’t change much to separate the two teams following the encounter at the Bernabeu on Tuesday night. Cristiano Ronaldo cancelled out Raphael Varane’s own goal in the first half to keep the two teams on level footing. Karim Benzema enjoyed a host of chances – some guilt edged – but failed to convert them. Elsewhere Liverpool swept aside Maribor with a remarkable 7-0 victory. Manchester City continued their winning march into Europea as well after registering a victory against Napoli.
