ADC BATS FOR EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION OF MGSVY

ASKS OFFICERS TO EXPEDITE THE ONGOING SURVEY REGARDING THIS SCHEME

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dr. Bhupinder Pal Singh today said that the state government’s ambitious Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojna (MGSVY) would ensure that the needy people could get the benefits of pro-poor schemes of the government.

Presiding over a review meeting to implement the scheme efficiently, the ADC said that state government’s this scheme aims at inclusive development and ensuring equitable access to benefits of all socio-economic development schemes to the most deserving. He said that the scheme would be implemented in the rural areas of district, where it would identify the poor and distressed households which have been hitherto deprived of the benefits of the various welfare schemes. Dr. Bhupinder Pal Singh said that the scheme also aims to achieve the objectives of holistic development of all sections of the society besides ensuring social justice and equality by improving the standard of living and quality of life in rural area.

The ADC said that the scheme also focuses on encouraging voluntary organizations, various civil society organizations, NRIs and other socially committed persons to contribute to the welfare of the weaker and underprivileged sections of the society. He asked the officers/ officials to expedite the work of ongoing survey under the scheme to identify the eligible beneficiaries under MGSVY. Dr. Bhupinder Pal Singh also said that any sort of callousness in this task was unwarranted and undesirable.

Dwelling on another issue, the ADC asked the officers to ensure optimum utilization of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) scheme which would provide 100 days job to people on one hand and further propel the pace of comprehensive development of the villages on the other hand. He also told the BDPOs to start maximum works in rural areas under this scheme. Dr. Bhupinder Pal Singh said that this scheme could give permanent assets to villages and at the same time daily wages to needy people ready to do physical labour under MGNREGA.
