SENIOR OFFICERS OF DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION VISIT MANDIS TOREVIEW PROCUREMENT OPERATION

After the release of Cash Credit Limit (CCL) by the Reserve Bank ofIndia (RBI) today, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. VarinderKumar Sharma issued fresh directions to the procurement agenciestoexpediteprocurement of paddy, make prompt payment to the farmers’besides expediting the process of lifting of grains.In a meeting with the officers here at his residence today, the DeputyCommissioner said that the mechanism must be evolved for timelypayment to the farmers so that they do not face any sort ofinconvenience. He asked the officers to ensure that the entries ofmaximum paymentsweremadefor benefiting the farmers. Mr. Sharmareiterated that the lifting of the paddy was done within 48 hours, sothat farmers could be facilitated.

The Deputy Commissioner also asked the officers to maximize the fieldvisits to take stock of the entire operations at ground level. He saidthat the officers must frequently visit the grain markets under theirjurisdiction to keep updated about the process. Mr. Sharma also askedthem to minutely observe the entire procurement and lifting operationsso as to ensure that there was no glut of grains in the market.Meanwhile, later on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner separateteams of officers led by Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr. Varinder PalSingh Bajwa and Mr. Paramveer Singh, Deputy Food & supply ControllerMr. Narinder Singh, District Mandi Officer Mr. Varinder Khera andothers visited the grain markets at Bhogpur, Bandala, Kohala,Paratapura, Sarinh, Goraya, Mansurpur, Nakodar, Malsian, Rurka Kalanand others to take stock of the procurement and lifting. The officershad detailed interaction with the staff and farmers in the mandi toreview the entire procurement operations.
