Army’s outreach team met Kaur Singh in his village
Mohali : Subedar Kaur Singh (Retd) of the Indian Army, who is a boxing legend, an Asiad Gold Medalist and had fought with the likes of Mohammad Ali. The article stated the deplorable

condition of the individual where he has to take loans for his treatment and medicines. On reading the media report, the Army’s outreach team met Kaur Singh in his village. Kaur Singh is an Army pensioner receiving a monthly pension Rs 33,000 and is entitled to unlimited medical support through Ex–Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS). According to him, the Army is the only organisation that has taken care of him and his family. All costs of his treatment are being paid by the
Ex–Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) of the Army. An amount of Rupees Five Lakhs Twenty Seven Thousand had been paid recently to Grecian Super Specialty Hospital where the individual was undergoing treatment. The monthly cost of Rupees Eight Thousand.
