Aruna Chaudhary appeals to follow all legal procedures for adoption of the children

The Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Mrs. Aruna Choudhary has exhorted the people to follow and comply with all the legal procedures while adopting a child.
In a statement released here today, Mrs. Aruna Choudhary said that many children being exploited, abandoned, rejected and left alone are being kept in different children’s homes. In these homes, the children are provided with a favorable environment for their overall personality development.
The minister further said that those couples who do not have children or others who wish to adopt them should come forward so that these children can play an effective role in the as responsible members of the civil society besides having a better life. In addition, they have asked the adopters to complete all legal procedures before adopting children to avoid any complications later on. She said that there are currently 10 Adoption Agencies in the state which handle the procedure of child adoption after the completion of the legal processes.
In addition, the Government has also fixed the eligibility criteria for the adoptive parents according to which they should be physically, mentally and financially strong and should not be suffering from a fatal illness. In case of a married couple, the consent of both of the spouses is necessary. The adoptive parents must have been married for at least two years. In case of a single woman, a boy or a girl can be adopted. But, in the case of a man, only the boy can be adopted.
The willing parents have to register on Cara’s online portal, cara.inc.in, and the application is accepted only after the study report is prepared after visiting the home of the adoptive parents.
