As if depression is a choice, says Deepika
Bollywood’s diva Deepika Padukone never fails to impress; be it with her brilliant acting skills or her persona. Along with this, the actress has been quite vocal about her struggle with depression. She broke her silence about her battle with depression way back in the year 2015. Now, in a recent interaction, Deepika opened up once again as she said, “The word that best describes my experience of depression is struggle. Every second was a struggle. I felt exhausted the whole time.”
The actress also indirectly went on to talk about Salman Khan’s take on depression and said, “People confuse it with being a bit sad. A male star said recently that he didn’t have the luxury to be depressed. As if depression is a choice!” In an interview, Salman Khan had said, “I see a lot of people going on vacations, but I cannot afford that luxury of taking a vacation. I see a lot of people getting depressed and emotional, but I can’t afford that luxury of being depressed or sad or emotional because no matter what I am going through, it works against me.”
