Bajrang, Vinod settle for silver

Asian Championships gold medallist Bajrang Punia and Vinod Kumar settled for silver medals at the Under-23 Wrestling World Championships in Bydgoszcz,

Poland, as India finished with three medals at the event.

Bajrang, who had won a bronze medal at the 2013 senior World Championships, lost his 65kg final to Russia’s two-time World Military champion Nachyn

Sergeevitch Kuular by technical fall (16-6). In the 70kg final, Vinod went down 3-1 after a tough fight against USA’s Richard Lewis. Ritu Phogat had also win a

silver medal in the women’s 48kg final.
Meanwhile, Russia won two gold medals on the final day. Kuular’s teammate Gadzhi Nabiev pulled off a 7-2 win against Akhsarbek Gulaev in the 74 kg final. It

turned to be a good day for USA who picked up their first medals of the event. USA also won two bronze medals, in 65kg and 97kg.
