Bengal setback for BJP as TMC sweeps bypolls
After the fiasco in Maharashtra, the BJP suffered setback in West Bengal where it failed to win any of the three Assembly seats where byelections were held on Monday.
The TMC bagging all three seats, including registering maiden victories in Kharagpur Sadar and Kaliaganj , is being seen as an indication of the popular mood against NRC being pressed by the BJP.
TMC supremo and CM Mamata Banerjee said: “Those who are anti-people, anti-development and seek to divide people have been completely routed.”BJP leader Mukul Roy said they would analyse the party’s performance and do “introspection”.
