A sector commander-level meeting was held between the BSF and the Pakistan Rangers in the Suchetgarh area on Monday.The meeting was held on the arrangements of the Rangers, which commenced at 11 am. A BSF spokesperson said the delegation comprised 18 officers, which was led by PS Dhiman, DIG, Jammu sector, and Brig Amjad Mehmud, sector commander, Chenab Rangers, Sialkot, Punjab, led the Pakistan delegation comprising 14 officers, including five wing commanders.

It was the first sector commander-level meeting between the two border guarding forces after tension prevailed along the International Border in Jammu in September.

During the meeting, the commanders of both the forces, inter alia, discussed various issues, including firing on the IB, presence of suspects in border areas and other routine issues related to border management.

“It was decided to re-energise instant communication between field commanders, whenever required, to resolve the petty matters. The meeting was held in a cordial, positive and constructive atmosphere and both sides agreed to expeditiously implement the decisions taken at the earlier meeting. They expressed commitment to maintaining peace and tranquillity along the IB,” the BSFspokesperson said.
